 So-called Charity Bookshops On-Line. If you value the service you receive from professional booksellers, please be aware that a number of charities are now uploading their books on-line. Obviously they can undercut any professional booksellers, as they receive their stock free, have volunteer staff paid nothing or minimum wage, and pay less business rates for their shops and storage. The problem is it will mean not only a decline in cataloguing standards (amateur staff), but the demise of even more bookshops that have to pay for their stock and premises at full rate. In the same period that 7 professional booksellers have closed here, 3 charity bookshops have opened. We are now advising our customers to avoid the on-line manifestations of these dealers. I should also point out we have nothing against general Charity Shops. They serve a real purpose. But when they set themselves up in direct competition to one profession, ie bookselling, then they should be investigated, at least by the Charity Commissioners. Secondhand booksellers are not protected by the the Monopoly laws, but it is very possible that the only booksellers you may find in your town are the charity booksellers.

 The Website. Studiobookshop.co.uk has been up and running since February 2005, and we are now averaging well over 100,000 hits a month. We are moving towards our 3rd million. Our thanks to all our customers for making the site such a succcess. We have 75 catalogues to choose from, from Africa to Women. Just click on the one that interests you most. We are constantly adding images of the books we have in stock to the website. The Bookshop. Studio Bookshop is run by Paul Brown, with experience in bookselling since 1985 in three bookshops and by mail order. Studio Bookshop is also a fully functioning ‘real’ bookshop, open to customers 6 days a week from 11 am to 5 pm daily, with the exception of Sundays.  You may remember us from "Collected Works", in Dulwich or "The Bloomsbury Bookshop", or even earlier selling secondhand books from the backroom of the "Bec Bookshop" in Tooting Bec. You may order from us with confidence of a professional and efficient, but still personal, service with thousands of satisfied customers worldwide. The bookshop, however, is always changing, although being largest bookshop for books on Glass in Europe, we can no longer justify the space in the selling area of the bookshop this takes up. In future we will still have the best selection of glass books, but most will be in storage. Customers visiting the shop for our glass books are advised to ring ahead, so we can retrieve the items they want from storage first. These are all on site. The Bookshop has undergone a complete refurbishment in June 2009, come and see the difference!

Our Host Sites.  Although the website is only just in its third year, we have had an internet presence via host sites since 1997, and still list our books on Amazon, Abebooks and others. We have a 5 star rating on Amazon after 5 years presence. We have been on Abebooks since 1998, with a 5 star rating. 

The London Bookfair. We are regulars at the Bloomsbury Bookfair on the second Sunday of each month at the Royal National Hotel, Woburn Place. If you are based in London and would like to see any item of stock before you purchase, we would be happy to bring it along for you to view.

Links. We are always interested in establishing links to other websites with an affinity to our specialist subjects: particularly in the areas of glass and exhibition catalogues. Therefore if you are a glass dealer, or a gallery owner, we would be happy to exchange links with your website. Please see our current links from the menu on the left.

"Tell a Friend" Our clever administrators have developed a new system. You now have the option to "Tell a Friend" about items in our inventory. If you choose to use the "Tell a Friend" feature, then StudioBookshop.co.uk will present a link on the item description pages allowing you to "Tell a Friend" about the items in our store. When you use the "Tell a Friend" link you will be presented a form to complete that will send an email to the friend regarding the item listed for sale in our store. The email that is sent to your friend includes a link for the friend to click and visit our store to view the item. We hope you can use this new improvement. Let us know.
